Origins of Halloween Candy
Among the Celts, The well-known “Death’s Head at The Feast” used to be an actual skull of an ancestor, set at the table to receive offerings, often with a candle set within it, to simulate the warmth of life and the light of vision.
Such was the origin of the jack-o-lantern.

In southeast Asia, harvest customs still involve Food offerings to ancestors at the holiday known as the Feast of the Hungry Ghosts.

Upon Growing Up in Miami Florida I lived around a lot of "Santeria’s" aka "Santeria". My Columbian Friend when Growing up in Miami, in his house, his Mother always had Santeria Orisha Deity "Offerings" of Organs in Liquid in a Glass Container placed by the Front Door. Other Houses I witnessed in Miami that had Santaria/Brujeria "Offerings" were of 2 Yellow and Red Painted Coconuts placed on either side of "Doorway" Entrances "Within" the House.
